RIYADH, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Saudi air defense forces have intercepted and destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile targeting the border city of Najran on Saturday, Al Arabiya reported.
The missile was intercepted at 10:20 a.m. local time (0720 GMT). The Saudi-led coalition air force also located and destroyed the missile's platform.
Another border city, Jazan, was also targeted with a missile on Thursday that was intercepted by the forces.
The missile attacks became more intense with the completion of the third year of the coalition's war in Yemen against Houthi militias.
The war shows no signs of ending, amid the ongoing conflicts between political parties and armed groups in Yemen and the previous announcements of the coalition that its war will continue until the full empowerment of the elected Yemeni government.
The UN Security Council affirmed last week that the ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi militias threaten the security of the region, expressing concerns over the militia's announcement to target Saudi Arabia and other countries.
