URUMQI, May 27 (Xinhua) -- A total of 1,230 China-Europe freight trains have made journeys departing from Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, two years after the Urumqi transport hub opened.
According to the regional railway authority, 384 China-Europe freight trains have departed from Urumqi so far this year, up 92 percent year on year.
So far, the Urumqi transport hub has opened rail routes to 24 cities in 17 European and Central Asian countries.
With trade volume increasing between China and Europe in recent years, Urumqi has started to offer one-stop service that integrates customs clearance, inspection and quarantine, train transportation, and freight logistics to cut transportation costs and time.
The goods have expanded to more than 200 items covering daily necessities, clothing, machinery, plumbing and building materials, as well as electronic accessories manufactured across China.
