SHIJIAZHUANG, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Zhangjiakou, one of three locations to host events at the 2022 Winter Olympics, is expected to host 30 ski resorts and over 20 towns featuring ice and snow to meet the demands of 20 million people annually by 2025, local authorities said on Friday.
Zhangjiakou's ice and snow industry is booming fast as it prepares for the 2022 Winter Games. The number of ski resorts in the city's Chongli district has risen from four to seven since Beijing won the rights to host the 2022 Winter Olympics.
"Zhangjiakou will forge an ice and snow industry chain covering equipment manufacturing, sports tourism, education training, competition service and many other aspects," said Wu Weidong, mayor of Zhangjiakou City.
Located some 200km northwest of Beijing, Zhangjiakou will host all snowboarding, freestyle skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined and biathlon competitions at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
