KAMPALA, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe and Kenya's national women's cricket teams have arrived in Uganda ahead of the Victoria Tri Series.
Martin Ondeko, Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Cricket Association, told Xinhua on Friday that the tournament will start on Saturday.
"The Victoria Tri Series will be played on a Twenty20 format on a round robin basis with each team playing the other twice and the best placed team wins the trophy," Ondeko said.
The teams, including Uganda, are using the tournament to prepare ahead of the coveted International Cricket Council Women's World Cup qualifiers slated to run from May 8-13 in Zimbabwe.
Habibu Mugalula, Uganda's head coach said on Friday that they are taking the tournament seriously because it will help them prepare the team better ahead of the World Cup qualifiers in May.
"Our target is to win all the games in the Tri Series. This tournament will give us a good test because we are playing against some of the teams we shall face in May," added the coach.
