WINDHOEK, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to Namibia Zhang Yiming on Wednesday said the upcoming China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo can provide new opportunities and prospects of economic and trade cooperation between China and Namibia.
The event, which will be the first of its kind, will take place from June 27 to 29 in Changsha, while the second China International Import Expo is scheduled to be held in November.
"I sincerely welcome friends of Namibia to actively participate in the expos and seize the opportunity to explore the Chinese market so as to promote the development of economic relations," he added.
According to Zhang, Namibia exports agricultural products such as oysters, beef and grapes to China, which has become a promising platform for continued trade prospects.
Zhang said for the expo in June, Namibia's minister of Industrialization, Trade and SME Development, Tjekero Tweya will lead a 22 member delegation as well as other members of leading companies in the southwestern African nation to the event.
"I am optimistic that this expo will boost people-to- people relations as well as strengthen the economic and trade ties currently being enjoyed between the two nations," he added.
