BEIJING, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese comedy film "Adoring" led the Chinese mainland box office on its premiere Tuesday, the China Movie Data Information Network said Wednesday.
Directed by Chinese director and screenwriter Larry Yang, the storyline of the film "Adoring" revolves around six warm stories about pets and their owners of different ages, with their journeys to find and appreciate love.
The film raked in 170.71 million yuan (about 24.47 million U.S. dollars) Tuesday, accounting for more than a half of the daily total.
It was followed by "Ip Man 4," the latest installment in the Chinese martial arts film franchise "Ip Man" based on the life of a legendary Wing Chun master. It grossed nearly 50 million yuan on its 12th day of screening.
"Begin, Again" ranked the third with a ticket sale of 41.1 million yuan on its opening day Tuesday.
