LOS ANGELES, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Hollywood veteran David Rubin was re-elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday by the organization's board of governors.
Rubin is beginning his second one-year term as president of the organization and his eighth year as a governor representing the Casting Directors Branch. He became the first casting director to ascend to the president of the prestigious film organization last year.
With more than 100 film and television credits, Rubin has cast such features as "The English Patient," "Men in Black," "The Talented Mr. Ripley" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral," according to a statement of the Academy.
The Academy is a global community of more than 9,000 of the most accomplished artists, filmmakers and executives. It is known around the world for its annual Academy Awards, the Oscars. Enditem
